6″Celtic Bas relief ceramic wolf in a warm wheat glaze made from earthenware clay.
Within Celtic Mythology the wolf was revered as the companion of Cerridwen, goddess of the Moon and fertility. The wolf was also one of the four sacred animals of the goddess Brighid.
The Celts believe the wolf ruled over the winter quarter of the year. From Samhain (Halloween) to Imbolc, the festival of the Goddess, Brighid. This festival takes place in February – this month was known to the Celts as Faoilleach, the month of the wolf.
These tiles are hand carved, pressed, glazed and made especially for you giving each one a unique character. As a result, colour may vary slightly.
